The Arts

Riley Rink at Hunter Park:  Riley Rink at Hunter Park, southern Vermont's largest indoor facility, is located in the foothills of Vermont's Green Mountains. Riley Rink is a 35,000 square foot multi-purpose facility.  During winter months we feature an Olympic size indoor skating rink. In spring, summer and fall, Riley Rink is converted to accommodate indoor sports, trade shows, concerts and a variety of other uses by locals and visitors.

Southern Vermont Art Center:  Vermont's oldest cultural organization, the Southern Vermont Arts Center is located in Manchester, Vermont in a National Historic Trust Mansion. The Arts Center's ten galleries feature classic and contemporary art on view and for sale.  The Southern Vermont Arts Center's 407-acres are situated on the slope of Mount Equinox and offer hiking trails, a botany trail, sculpture gardens and an indoor/outdoor cafe.

Norman Rockwell Exhibition and Gift Shop:  Where Norman Rockwell's models and neighbors are your hosts!  Hundreds of examples of Rockwell's printed works exhibited in his VT hometown, including Saturday Evening Post covers.  $2.00 Admission in Arlington, Free Admission to the Manchester Gallery in the center of Manchester (4935 Main St., Suite 1 on Historic Route 7A.)

Bennington Museum and Grandma Moses Gallery:  Furniture, decorative arts, tools, toys, military artifacts;  Grandma Moses paintings and memorabilia;  Bennington Pottery;  Museum Shop.

Tilting At Windmills:  See captivating works by new artists like Gunter Korus, Gerald Lubeck, and Charles Zhan to name just a few.

Stores and Attractions

Vermont Attractions:  Check out some of the High-Points of interest across the State of Vermont.  But remember that some of those "Special Moments" during a trip are found when care and caution are thrown to the wind, and you find what's NOT on the Map!

Bromley Adventure Zone:  America's longest Alpine Slide!  Mountain Thrill Zone, Northeast's only Parabounce, Trampoline Things, DevalKarts, 18 holes of Championship Mini Golf, Climbing Wall, Little Kiddie Park and Children's Theatre.  And Award-winning skiing during the Winter.

Hildene:  Robert Todd Lincoln's "Hildene," home of Abraham Lincoln's descendants until 1975.  Tour the restored Georgian Revival mansion, and hear the 1908 Aeolian organ.  Picturesque views from the formal garden.

Basketville:  Huge collection of handcrafted baskets and wicker furniture - many designes at outlet prices.  Plus silk and dried flowers, home accents, and more.  No longer in Manchester, see their flagship Putney, VT location.

Bennington Potters:  Celebrating 53 years as the oldest and largest American art pottery and Vermont's #1 factory outlet for pottery and decorative accessories for your home.  Located at 324 County Street, Bennington, VT.

J. K. Adams Co. Factory Store:  A Vermont Tradition since 1944 Showcasing distinctive woodworkings in our factory store.  Come see our factory showroom and watch us (from the observation deck) turn rough blocks of wood into cherished works of art.  Only 3 Miles from Manchester on Rte. 30 toward Dorset.

Frog Hollow - VT State Craft Center:  Since 1971, Frog Hollow has offered students of all ages and abilities access to craft education - from Camp Frog Hollow, a summer day camp for kids, to advanced master level workshops for professional craftspeople.

Sun Bowl Ranch:  Scenic horseback trail rides, hand-led donkey rides, picnic rides, riding lessons, kids camps, horsedrawn wagon rides, private rides and a fantastic overnight horseback adventure ride!

Christmas Days:  Come and experience the wonder of the holiday spirit year round at Christmas Days!

Orvis:  Every sportsman knows of Orvis' quality (since 1856) and commitment to the products they carry.  Come visit their headquarters located just over 1 Mile from the center of Manchester.  Take time out to enroll in their Fly-Fishing School, or their Shooting School.  With a few lessons you'll feel like a Master!

American Museum of Fly Fishing:  The American Museum of Fly Fishing, a nationally accredited, nonprofit, educational institution dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of fly fishing, was founded in Manchester, Vermont, in 1968. The Museum serves as a repository for, and conservator to, the world's largest collection of angling and angling-related objects.

The Northshire Bookstore:  A Landmark in Manchester!  Don't miss the charm of the bookstore which resides in the old "Coburn Inn".  Sitting right in the center of Manchester it is more recreation to enjoy a lesiurely afternoon finding all the cubby holes where you can sit uninterrupted and pour over that novel you couldn't find at those big nation-wide stores!  Enjoy!

Vermont Country Store:  Residing in Weston and Grafton, VT, this is one shop not to miss!  Maintaining the family business since 1897, the Orton family state that they are "Purveyors of the Practical & Hard to Find", and one visit through their store will take you back 50 to 100 years!  If you miss this store on your trip, you haven't seen the Heart and Soul of Vermont.  Although their warehouse is in Manchester, the Weston store is but a 35 Minute drive through beautiful scenic countrysides, and you will even pass an operational water-wheel mill (the owner just loves to see people stop to take pictures.)

Vermont Kitchen Supply:  Take a look, find that special tool you have been looking for oh so many years now.  As they say..."...for people who love to cook!"


Mulligan's:  Here you can enjoy great food in either a Pub/Sports Bar Setting or in a Fine Eatery Setting.  Found just 2 Miles South of the Center of Manchester on Route 7-A, it's warm atmosphere becons you to return again, and again.

Sirloin Saloon:  Enjoy steaks, seafood, and their great salad bar (which comes with all entree's) in a comfortable setting right in the center of Manchester.  Local's favorite spot since the early 60's.

Ye Olde Tavern:  Come dine in a turn of the century (1790's) Colonial home.  Each room offers unique decor of the period.

Manchester Pizza House:  Stop in and taste the best pizza around (Dom DeLuise thinks so too!), and tell Argie that the Carriage House sent you!  Manchester Shopping Ctr, Manchester, VT 05255  (802-362-3338)

Friendly's:  Since 1935, Friendly's has been known for delicious ice  cream treats. Rich, creamy, indulgent ice cream in all different flavors, made by our very own ice cream experts. And, while our roots are in ice cream, we've also become a favorite family place for freshly prepared breakfasts, our famous Big Beefs™ and delicious SuperMelts™.

Up for Breakfast:  "Better than spending the morning in bed". We are a lively art-decked cafe with an open kitchen featuring a unique menu that offers great taste and nutrition.  Pancakes are their specialty!
